Caster Wheels by Fastening Type
Caster fastenings mount your caster to your equipment. The two main types of fastenings are plate mount fastenings and stem mount fastenings. And like with most caster options, you’ll want to choose your fastening style based on your application.
Resources for Fastening Types
Fastening Type | Information | Weight |
Top Plate | Top plate mounts to the equipment that needs to roll. Large surface area makes it compatible for medium and heavy duty applications. Can work with Caster Pads for even simpler mounting. Available in both rigid and swivel styles | Medium/Heavy Duty |
Stem Casters | Types of Stem Casters: Threaded Stem Casters, Round Stem, Square Stem, Expanding Adapter Stem | Light Duty |
Grip Stem Casters | The most common caster for office chairs, easy mounting and removal, built to stay in place once mounted. | Light Duty |
Modular Casters | Ideal for someone who has their own stems and just wants to purchase a caster | Light Duty |
Wood Furniture Caster | Engineered for use with wood furniture that’s often old or antique. Mounts directly into the wood instead of a pipe or tube. | Light Duty |
How to Measure Stem Size
For any stem caster, you’ll want to know the length and diameter of the stem you need. We recommend using a caliper to match the stem’s diameter to the caster hole’s diameter. For the stem’s length, measure from the base of the stem (where the stem meets the cap over the raceway) to the top of the stem.
